Comfortable camping for up to 6 people in a retro-styled bell tent.

The Robens 'Outback' tent range give you a durable, comfortable and very enjoyable camping experience. Made using technical HydroTex® Polycotton fabric with a water repellent treatment, they benefit from great breathability, reduced condensation, comfort and longevity, all with the distinctive Robens look.

Comfy, roomy and simple to pitch, the Robens Klondike boasts a simple layout that lends itself to group camping.

It has a stovepipe port (ready to use with a wood-burning stove such as the Robens Denali) and the 'Internal Apex Vent Control' can be easily opened from inside using just two cords neatly channelled along the walls.

The vertical door makes for easy access – especially in bad weather - and protective eaves run around the tent to shelter the door and walls from rain run-off. The zip-in groundsheet has a zip running to the centre alloy pole, enabling it to be rolled away to create a safe area in which to use a stove or just store your muddy gear.

3 open wholes on the front by design pose safety risk

The front zippers when fully closed leave a whole of approximately 3-4cm. There are 2 more wholes on the sides. Robens admitted that the wholes are by design and advised me to use tape to close them

Great tent - a few problems, more suitable for 4/5 with bags

Loved the tent when up

Hard to put up on my own the first time, needs practice

If windy taking down is hard, needed help

Puddle at bottom of A frame into the pole pocket

Smooth pegs not much good

It does not leak

The tent is amazing, it doesn't leak, it just needs weathering like all poly cotton tents do! had mine for years and still going strong. Don't believe the doubters.

Poor design - tent leaks

Crazy that Robens pride themselves on quality and wind tests etc but do not do anything about the leak through the A frame. It is a pity because this could be a great tent with a little more thought.

Best tent we have owned.

We have had a few tents in the past(Inflatable,Poled) but this is by far the best we have had. Quick set-up, Great space, dried fairly quick. We added a £25 tarp onto the front, it worked brilliant.

DO NOT BUY

First tent that I bought had a rip in the top fly mesh
Second tent has a rip in the canvas
Third tent leaked

A great tent fails on 2 counts .

A zip in ground sheet is not waterproof and the side vents spoil the look of the tent . they are needed but better out of sight , at the price you ask a bit more thought could have gone into it .

Robens Klondike

I bought my Klondike last year and went camping during late autumn in Eskdale using the tent as a base to go walking for a week with my collie. The weather was awful, torrential rain and very high winds - so much so that the majority of campers in the area headed home early. Camped near to a river we did get some sogginess under the groundsheet near the door even though I had a bivvee rough-slung at the entrance - minor problem compared to many of the fancy campers nearby. I do have a wood stove but didn't take it with me - but with a good old heavyweight all season military sleeping bag and a couple of rugs I was never cold. Mirk, my dog was totally happy. Reading some reviews that the Klondike leaks along the A Frame I can't help wondering if that's because it hasn't been pre-soaked before first use - its not a problem I experienced even in extreme lakeland rain - non-stop for over twelve hours one night. Totally recommended.

Rubens

Having been a 'wild camper' since i was 6 months old, (47yrs now), i bought this bell/tipi hybrid tent as a gift for my husband - to give us a boost after his cancer hell... the A-frame, at the front, leaked terribly - twice! (and thus the water spread into our sleeping area, at the rear) ... we accepted that this was just the canvas 'seasoning' ? ... we plan to wild-camp again during October & November... lets hope we stay dry!

Update

***SEPTEMBER 2018: I feel compelled to update my earlier review of this tent with some potentially good news. It is unclear how I do this, so I will re-review (maybe somebody can add this to my original comment as an update and up the star-rating)***

We shared the pictures/video we took of this tent leaking with Robens and sent the tent back to them. They took a look and just agreed to send us the newer model. They seem sure that it won’t leak (I’m less convinced). It is still possible that ours was a faulty outlier in this respect or that they’ve now fixed the issue. Nevertheless, at least you can rest assured that when you buy this tent you are dealing with a quality operation with Robens who appear to take complaints seriously and do what they can to right the situation.

Expect a further update after the new tent is put to use in rain...

Faulty design

I bought this tent last year with the stove, carpet etc. It looks great and its very cosy when the stove is going. Go Outdoors had the cheapest price I could find. I’ve used the Klondike three times. The first time it was great, but it didn’t rain. It rained heavily the twice I used it this year and it leaked like a sieve around the A-frame at the front. This frame seems like a good idea at first as it means there is no central pole in the doorway but, as you can see from the pictures, the frame touches the canvas in an area that is not reinforced for such. When there is wind behind rain it just pours in :( My carpet was soaked at the front and I reckon it let in >10 pints of water in just a few hours. Robens seriously need to fix this issue! Until they do so I say DO NOT BUY THIS TENT. You’d be better off with a regular Bell tent. Is there any way I can get my money back?

Robens Klondike

Brilliant bit of kit. Massive tent. Total luxury for one person but worth it. I watched the how to erect video on YouTube. It took me 35 minutes on my own to put up and 20 minutes to take down and fully pack away. The key features are the ability to install a log burner and the awesome look of the thing. I got so many comments about its old West style. Love it.

Roben Klondike bell tent

So happy we bought this tent. Very easy to put up and take down, spacious enough for 2 double air beds and all our stuff. Also it’s a bit beautiful so we were very proud new bell tent owners. Now looking for extension porch options to compliment the tent and give a bit of shaded outdoor space. Really cannot rate this tent highly enough!!

best tent ever

After reviewing and trying many tents, I dropped a few ££ and got this brilliant no nonsense tent. Rain and Storms? no problem for this beast. Need fast pitch time? I can put this up on my own (5ft 5 female) with my 5 year old running around trying "to help" in about 20 minutes. High quality? never had anything so well designed and well manufactured. Seriously, get this beautiful tent for you and your family, its simply a delight to sleep in and look at. did I mention how easy it was to pitch? just stake out the bottom, pop the main pole in (one person and about 30 seconds), stake out the guy lines, and there... this sucker will not move an inch in the wind and rain...

Fantastic tent and very versitile

I bought this tent a couple of months ago and set it up for a test camp in my back garden with my sister in tow.
We both owned dome tents and an inflatable tent in the past and had never even set up a 4m bell tent before so it was quite an exciting event for us.
It was a very windy day for the set up but we decided to just go for it.
Amazingly enough we had absolutely no problems at all! It was very easy to put up even in the strong wind and once guyed out it looked great!
We also purchased the Denali tent stove inside which also proved exceptionally easy seeing as we'd never used one of those either and within half an hour had it crackling away ready to cook our sausage & fried onion butties...yum!
The tent has plenty of ventilation panels and is made from polycotton making it very breathable indeed.
I like the fact that you can unzip and fold back half the groundsheet incase you have to walk in with muddy boots and clothes.
I have to say i think this is the best tent we have ever bought.
Roll on our next camping holiday!!
