Maybe this has been updated since the last reviews, but I find it easy to open fill and reseal. The valve on the mouthpiece is difficult to open but there are no leaks. I would rate it as good.
I can't tell you if it leaks I am yet to lock the seal on top. Absolute nightmare to seal and get the catch over once its full.
Would never recommend buying. I don't even want to give it one star.
As others have said, this is simply awful.
It's really fiddly and annoying to secure and not leak with wet and/or cold hands which makes it a bit of a liability for those doing proper mountain work.
Good product, does the job with no leaks
We used this over 3 days whilst walking the Gower coast last week. Whilst it was initially fiddly to slide the plastic holder over, it's actually rather easy when you realise you can fold over the top more (i.e. don't try to slide the plastic over the thicker seal)
It needs a few rinses to remove the rubbery taste (not a big deal, and the same with all bladders), and we experienced no leaks at all. We abandoned the rubber protector on the end of the mouth part as it wasn't needed. Personally, I prefer the pull-to-open method as opposed to the tap as there are fewer leaks (it's the same as your average sports water bottle that way).
I wonder if people are attempting to fill the bottle from the tube end, and that's why they're experiencing leaks? It's filled from the wide end.
Over all, a great product and MUCH cheaper than the next cheapest one!
Having used lots of camelbaks this is not even close. It is a lot cheaper though and this shows. It is a bit of a pig to juggle while filling and putting the clip back on.
For the money though its easier than stopping to get bottles out and serves a purpose.
I would suggest spending more as i plan on and getting a camelbak.
I used mine , for the first time , for a short hike. I struggled to get it to work at first but after discovering the white bit on the mouth piece was a flow valve things got a lot better.
It’s a little fiddly to fill up but not really anything to worry about. There was also the inevitable plastic taste. To a new product this is bound to happen.
I filled mine with 1.5 let’s of water and 42 ice cubes. Condensation was an issue but not leaks so my own fault there.
I was concerned it wouldn’t be enough for the hike but on returning found I had plenty left over and was supplying for two adults and a child.
Dont waste you money on this bladder, listen to the vast majority of reviews, who all saying its ribbish because it is. Cannot get any water out of mine .. its going back.
I read the other reviews and thought I had better add some balance. I have used this to summit Carrantoohill twice and the Brecon Beacon horseshoe.
Full days walking and climbing, not running, admittedly.
Not had any issues so far. Screw the bottom tight and test before you leave. If you cross thread the screw in hose then you might get an issue.
Biggest issue for me is separating the clip at the top to refill but I actually take that as a positive because it isn't coming off by accident.
I bought two of these both are leaking water out the bottom, rubbish buy now I need to find the receipt and sort out going back
This is the worst ever bladder I've used.
It leaks from the base where the pipe fits as the screw constantly comes loose.
Trying to fit the plastic sealer is an absolute nightmare...I threw it away and bought a Camelbak bladder...
Don't waste your money
I took this to the Cambridge folk festival and it worked absolutely fine. I did keep it in a small thicker plastic bag, just in case but it didn't spill a drop. My only complaint is that, despite washing it thoroughly, it makes the water taste very plasticy.
Judging by the rest of the reviews, however, I was probably quite lucky.
I am someone who ueasully uses camlebacks and was not expecting anything amazing from this product but is was shocked. I only realised it was leaking in the middle of the highlands on a long run I was more that ten miles away from sivlisiation and it was a hot day this soon turned into a very dangerous situation I got my map out and headed for the nearest place. Soon I became very dehydrated thankfully I was carrying a life straw with me and was able to drink from streams to keep me slightly hydrated. I will be tacking this back to shop and demanding a full refund, if I am not given one I will contackt trading standerds. Awfull
Terrible! Took ages to get the sliding seal on (and 2 of us) and then it leaked at the valve end!!! Awful, I'm now having to carry bottled water!
I did a 20 mile trail run wearing this bladder pak. After 5 or so miles I realised I was getting wet (it was a very hot day). It was leaking so badly I had to tip the water out as I was really drenched. I therefore was up on the fells with no water and soaking clothes (even my spare clothes in my bag were drenched). Shocking and should not be sold. Very dangerous situation. I had to divert my run down to a village about 8 miles away and get water by which time I was totally dehydrated. Awful quality. Wouldnt even give it one star.
Wish I had read the reviews before buying this product. Took this out on my bike the other day and not only did I get drenched from it leaking, but I was also left with no water to drink. On a hot day this was extremely dangerous. I relied on this hydration pack to keep me hydrated for a long bike ride and was let down. Should be discontinued.
I wanted to use this to carry my water up Snowdon, unfortunately the seal around where the hose and bag had a tiny puncture in it so after walking about 10 minutes my bag, back and warm clothes were soaking, I had to throw the water away and share my girlfriends who was walking with me. Terribly made cheap product that I won't recommend... after this I won't be buying a single OEX product again.
The instructions for the valve on this product are incorrect as it needs to be pulled out, not rotated, to let water flow. The fact that the manufacturer doesn't appear to know how to make their own valve operate is worrying, but the bigger problem is that the cover intended to prevent the pinch seal opening accidentally is so tight that pulling it in to place caused visible damage to the pouch after just two attempts. I would not want to carry the pouch without this cover but using the cover seems likely to cause a leak very soon. This product was a total waste of money.
I bought this for a small day pack and cannot get the water flowing. I've used other brands of hydration bladders without issue, this one is useless. It's going back
